As you know, I've been working on a system of my own since last week. Whilst it's an ongoing process that will last months, I have made some good initial progress.
My original idea was to use stones on a cloth, but after reading about Junipers system at walking the hedge, I decided that a collection of small objects would be better. I would find them much easier to work with, and the meanings much more personal and easier to remember.
In addition to this, I have worked out a prototype for the cloth layout. Originally, it was going to be divided into four parts, with a central area for the most important issues. The four areas were going to represent 'self' 'relationships' 'Gods' and 'work', however; very quickly I realized that these 4 areas would be far too limiting.
Instead, I am using the 4 classical elements. Whilst they have no bearing in my practice, they are useful archetypes for something like this. Each one corresponds to several broad issues, allowing me more flexibility in readings. There will still be a central area.
I already have a few items collected together to use in my system. I have 9 semi-precious stones I am going to use. I pulled their meanings out of a crappy new age-y crystal correspondence book my nan gave me. I don't go in for that kind of thing at all, but once again; it's a good source of basic archetypes that can be applied to a system like this!
As well as these, I have a 2p coin, a canadian coin, a dice, and possibly the inside part of a 25-cal bullet. I'm not whether to include the bullet in the set yet. Whilst it'd be perfect for certain concepts, it's a little grubby, icky and lead-y!
I'll post more as time goes on, and perhaps post a list of what each item represents.
