Books, candles and other miscellany.

My book came 12 days early! W00t!
This means I can have it when I go on holiday (if I haven't finished it beforehand, which seems likely).

For those that don't know, the book is 'longing for wisdom- the message of the maxims' by Allyson Szabo.
I have read the first few chapters and it's good. I have not been utterly disgusted by anything so far. ;) I've disagreed with a few things in the intro but I put that down to a difference in worldview and methodology. Dosen't really affect anything all that much.
The interpretations of the maxims themselves are good so far. Some of them are different to how I interpret them, but still perfectly relevant and valid which really makes me think. The exercises at the end of each section are a wonderful touch.
Overall, looks promising!

In addition to this, I bought some new candles to represent hestia.
Before hand I used a poor quality tealight in a rather ugly purple holder. I never ever liked that set up, it had no aesthetic feel to it at all.
These candles were a set of 3 big ass pillar candles in varying sizes. They look brilliant!
I've been searching for similar for a while but it's pretty hard to find pillar candles that aren't either scented or coloured (I'm picky about these matters, I want my altar to match the rest of my room).
After my ritual for the 12 today I wanted to take a picture but failed to locate my camera. Boo hiss boo.

Yay for books arriving! That's always so exciting. I was so hyped when Sannion's book arrived (Gods and Mortals). I think I inhaled it rather than reading it. LOL...

As for Longing for Wisdom, if you have things you disagree with, GREAT! Blog or journal about them... think about them.... share them with others! :) And I'm really glad nothing's UTTERLY disgusted you so far *grin*

I shall!
I'm taking a mental note of things to mention, and I shall post a little something about it when I have finished reading. :)

I'll be looking forward to reading your commentary! I think it's fantastic that the book is stirring people to think, and to come up with their own conceptions. Makes me feel good. ;)

That makes alot of sense!

I prefer unscented ones so they don't mingle with the incense.

Very much so!
This time last year there was practically nothing available for the beginner.
